This recipe is an excellent heart-healthy appetizer or snack. Ingredients such as tomatoes and olive oil can prevent plaque build-up in your coronary arteries and heart attacks.

Ingredients:
- 4 slices fresh bread, whole grain
- 1 clove of garlic, cut in half
- 1 ripe tomato
- 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Preparation:
- Cut bread into half-inch thick slices and toast them. Set slices on a plate.
- Cut a clove of garlic, and rub the bread with it.
- Cut the tomato in half, and rub the bread with it.
- Put a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil on each slice.
Variation
Rub the bread with the garlic. Mix small pieces of fresh tomato, basil, 1 clove of crushed garlic, and extra virgin olive oil. Add the mixture to the bread.
