Bread With Tomato and Garlic - A Healthy Heart Recipe

This recipe is an excellent heart-healthy appetizer or snack. Ingredients such as tomatoes and olive oil can prevent plaque build-up in your coronary arteries and heart attacks.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices fresh bread, whole grain
  • 1 clove of garlic, cut in half
  • 1 ripe tomato
  • 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Preparation:

  • Cut bread into half-inch thick slices and toast them. Set slices on a plate.
  • Cut a clove of garlic, and rub the bread with it.
  • Cut the tomato in half, and rub the bread with it.
  • Put a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil on each slice.

Variation

Rub the bread with the garlic. Mix small pieces of fresh tomato, basil, 1 clove of crushed garlic, and extra virgin olive oil. Add the mixture to the bread.
